If the Picker was authored with the character referenced in (which is the best way), you have to do the same. That way, you can assign it to the proper namespace.

Sounds like you opened or imported the file. Try *referencing* the rig in.

Did you watch the video on this page?

Make sure you have a picker tab open. Select something on the rig then right click on the interface to make a button.

It's much better if it's a REFERENCED character rig.

If not, just save the picker file.

Those Rotation pole vectors aren't really used anymore (after that snapping was implemented), so you can ignore them.

Sometimes the focus is in Picker instead of the Maya interface. You may have to middle click in the Maya interface to get it back.

You can load multiple pickers at once. You just may have to change the namespace after using the menu. Picker>Change Namespace

Go to Hypershade and find the red colored material.
If needed, select the object and do Get Materials on Selected Objects (or something like that).

You can change that color as needed there.

Koen that is a bug/feature of Maya.

To get around it, we have a separate eyebrow that attaches there.

Instead of manually changing the smooth levels, use the buttons on the AnimSchool Picker for him. That will automatically show/hide the right objects.

The namespace in your scene just has to match up with the Picker. What is the namespace? It sounds like you also had an old version of malcolm, malcolm.ma You want to reference in malcolm_v109.ma Then your namespace will probably be malcolm_v109.ma. Either way, just set the namespace to the right th...

Take out the ambient color.

for example:
setAttr "malcolm_v109:eyeWhite.ambientColorR" 0;
setAttr "malcolm_v109:eyeWhite.ambientColorG" 0;
setAttr "malcolm_v109:eyeWhite.ambientColorB" 0;

In AnimSchool Picker, you open two Picker files, and you'll then have two tabs. You can switch between the tabs.

I see. You need to reference using NAMESPACE, not underscores.

The objects will be named:
malcolm_v109:ctl...
NOT
malcolm_v109_ctl...

If you make a new picker and save the Maya scene, the picker data is stored in the scene.

Of course, normally you want to store it separately, so you can use it in other scenes as well. To do that, save it from within AnimSchool Picker.

Hello! You have to REFERENCE your rig file into another Maya scene. THEN make the buttons and scripts, so they all have the prefix on them. ex. malcolm:ctlBody instead of ctlBody (If you don't do that, the buttons will only work in your workfile.) In that new scene with the referenced rig, each obje...

You can certainly edit the existing script, but you'd have to identify or make similar transform nodes in your rig.

Or you could get someone to write a mirror script just for your character.

For some absurd reason, Maya hides the object from rendering when a wrap deformer is applied to it.

Just turn back on the render visibility in the Attribute Editor.

example: (I may not have the object name correct)
setAttr "malcolm:geoHeadShape.primaryVisibility" 1;
